This could be your alternative to HRT…

When Hormones Feel Like a Rollercoaster

Perimenopause often arrives quietly, then suddenly unpredictable periods, hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. It can feel like your body is no longer your own. But what if this transition wasn’t a crisis to endure, but a cycle to honour?

Hormone Yoga Therapy (HYT) offers a natural, holistic approach to navigate this phase. Developed by Brazilian yoga therapist Dinah Rodrigues in the early 1990s, HYT combines dynamic yoga postures, powerful breathing techniques, and Tibetan energy practices to stimulate the body’s own hormone production. This method targets the ovaries, thyroid, adrenal glands, and pituitary, aiming to restore balance and alleviate symptoms associated with hormonal fluctuations.

Who HYT is For

HYT is particularly beneficial for women who:

  • Are over 35 and entering perimenopause or menopause
  • Experience hormonal imbalances such as low estrogen, irregular cycles, or low libido
  • Have conditions like PCOS or amenorrhea caused by hormonal disruption
  • Want a natural, drug-free way to support hormone balance

This practice is designed to work with the body’s endocrine system, helping to naturally restore balance and reduce symptoms like hot flashes, sleep disturbances, irritability, and fatigue.

Who HYT is NOT For

HYT is a therapeutic practice and is not suitable for everyone. It is not recommended for women who:

  • Have oestrogen-sensitive cancers
  • Have active endometriosis or large fibroids
  • Have other medical conditions affecting hormone-sensitive tissues

If you fall into any of these categories, it’s important to speak with me before starting HYT, so I can recommend safe, alternative practices to support your hormonal health.

How HYT Works

A typical HYT session includes:

  • Dynamic postures to stimulate hormone-producing glands
  • Bhastrika (bellows) breathwork to energize the body and improve circulation
  • Tibetan energy techniques to circulate and awaken energy
  • Yoga Nidra or guided relaxation to calm the nervous system and reduce stress

Together, these elements work to support the endocrine system, improve mood, increase energy, and ease symptoms of hormonal fluctuation.

Real-Life Impact

Many women practicing HYT notice profound benefits, including:

  • More stable energy levels
  • Reduced hot flashes and night sweats
  • Improved mood and emotional regulation
  • Enhanced sleep and overall wellbeing

HYT is about empowerment through alignment—helping women feel more connected to their changing bodies and regain a sense of control during perimenopause.

A Gentle Reframe

Your body doesn’t need to be “fixed.” It needs to be supported. HYT offers tools for balance, resilience, and connection during a transformative phase.

Stepping onto the mat for HYT is a statement: I am choosing to move with my body, honour its transitions, and nurture my inner wisdom.

Because perimenopause is not the end of vitality—it’s a chance to step into your full, radiant power.
